Abstract

Irrational use of antibiotics has become a common practice in developing countries, where the prevalence of infectious disease burden is aggravated by uncontrolled access to antibiotics. With the high market of antibiotics, the substandard products will also play part to the resistency incidence. A substandard antibiotic may cause therapeutic failure due to the lower dosage or absence of the active compounds that finally induce antimicrobial resistance, increase morbidity, mortality and significant economic burden on developing countries.
