Abstract

Picosecond-pulse outputs, tunable over a broad spectral range, have been demonstrated in an organic-dye laser. Evidence is presented that no more than a small fraction of the available bandwidth cooperates in mode locking to produce individual short pulses. © 1969 The American Institute of Physics.
