Abstract
In 2018 that the maternal mortality rate in Indonesia is generally caused by a variety of factors. First, direct obstetric causes included bleeding 28%, eclampsia or preeclampsia 24%, infection 11%. While the indirect causes are nutritional problems, including anemia in pregnant women 40%, chronic energy deficiency 37% and pregnant women with energy consumption below the minimum requirement of 44.2%. This study aims to determine the effect of dragon fruit juice consumption on hemoglobin levels in the third trimester of pregnancy at PMB S Tangerang. This study adopted a semi-experimental research design, with a pre-experimental and post-experimental design consisting of two groups. The sample consists of 30 respondents. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The instruments used were observation tables and GCHb Easy Touch, the data were analyzed by paired t test to determine the effect of giving dragon fruit juice to the treatment group. The result show the value of Hb levels in the initial treatment group at 9.8gr/dL increased to 11.9 gr/dL, and in the control group which was initially 10gr/dL increased to 10.4 gr/dL. There was an effect on giving dragon fruit juice on Hb levels before and after in the treatment and control groups. There is also a difference in the treatment and control groups who get the same value, namely p = 0.000 (<0.05). It is expected that pregnant women consume dragon fruit can help increase the value of hemoglobin levels.
