Current anatomical ideas about the aortic root structure from surgical point of view

Abstract

Clear understanding of the aortic root anatomy is essential for successful valve-sparing aortic root surgery. Fundamentally, surgeons need to know the exact anatomy and normal function of aortic root to repair aortic valve. Aortic root morphology, its topography in relation to other cardiac structures, pathological types of the aortic valve from a surgical point of view are analyzed in the article.
