A model for the formation of the Geminid meteor stream is developed. It is shown that this formation mechanism causes certain features to develop in the model stream which will result in both the rate profile being skew and mass segregation being observable. Such features are in fact observed in the Geminid shower and the magnitude of the features in the model are compared with those observed.
