Abstract

Mutual interaction between adolescence and chronic disease is numerous. Disease may hinder the adolescent process by impairing the body with its specific signs, short stature or delayed puberty, by wounding narcissism and strengthening dependence bonds with parents and by disrupting peer group integration. yet the adolescence of a majority of sick children does not differ from the ones of their healthy peers. Far from dreading this period, caregivers have to reinforce their patients' empowerment and deal when necessary with the issue of compliance.
