International communication of intangible cultural heritage in central plains: a case study of Chinese Wushu

Abstract

As an important part of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Central Plains, Chinese Wushu (Kungfu) has distinctive Chinese features and profound foundations of national culture and is a typical representative of Chinese national spirit. This paper discusses the characteristics of Chinese Wushu and indicates the strategies of the international communication of Chinese Wushu, in order to make some contributions to the international communication, in which we are supposed to standardize the English Translation of Wushu terminology, to maintain the cultural features of national Wushu, to promote the cultural export of Wushu culture and broaden the ways of foreign communication of Chinese Wushu. It is argued that a proposed set of translation strategies can promote a better international communication of intangible cultural heritage.
