Abstract
The reproducing sensitivity of narrow track single pole type perpendicular heads is affected by the domain structure of the main pole film. The closure domains become larger rapidly in size for narrower track width, and the effective flux-flow width in the film is reduced with decreasing of the anisotropy field Hk. Hence the permeance or the reproducing sensitivity of the main pole has a maximum at the optimum Hk of the film for each narrow track width. This paper describes the design concept to make highly sensitive single pole type perpendicular heads from a viewpoint of the domain behavior of soft magnetic main pole film. © 1985, IEEE.
