Abstract

Philbin and Leonhardt (2009 New J. Phys. 11 033035;2009 arXiv:0904.2148v3 [quant-ph]) recently presented a new theory of van der Waals friction. Contrary to previous theories, they claimed that there is no 'quantum friction' at zero temperature. We argue that this theory is incorrect. © IOP Publishing Ltd and Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft.
