This is a review of literature on the relationship between heritage education, conceptions of heritage and cultural tourism. It is advocated that there is a need to develop interdisciplinary actions on tourism and heritage education policies, for a better use of assets, increasing their attractiveness for the cities, as well as enriching the experience of tourists, starting from the conception of heritage as that which is produced by men in society, and therefore, an integral part of human development.
