In the present study, sport is understood as a social institution, and therefore it transmits a sport culture (based on Durkheim's perspectives about ways of thinking, acting, and feeling), values and rules, which express the ideas and principles about violence, and within it, about gender. Along these lines, this article accounts the trends in the athletic culture of current postmodernism society (of both decadence and resistance) and especially the postmodernism society of decadence and the negative consequences that it generates: different types of violent behaviour and, particularly, gender discrimination. Next, athletic values of "non-violence", which are linked to postmodernism of resistance, are defined and explained. One of these, equal opportunity, offers the possibility of synthesizing the two general trends from a gender perspective, and consider the negative consequences that appear when equal opportunities mean total equality (without taking into consideration biological and gender differences). Finally, "The Non-Violence Code" is proposed as a resource to educate, as it summarizes in 60 phrases the ways of thinking, acting and feeling of the postmodernism of resistance. ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR
