Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows: Our primary objective is to provide readers with a summary of the diagnostic accuracy of US for appendicitis in patients who present with clinically suspected acute appendicitis. Our secondary objectives are to explore the diagnostic accuracy of US for appendicitis in male and female patients, in the paediatric (under 16 years of age) and pregnant patient subgroups and in patients with intermediate clinical suspicion of acute appendicitis or indeterminate diagnostic scores.
