Teaching MSW Students Suicide Assessment, Intervention, and Postvention in Rural Areas

Abstract

このティーチング・ノートは、農村部でのソーシャルワーク実践に備えるMSW学生を対象に、自殺のアセスメントと介入方法のトレーニングを強化する必要性を主張するものである。地方特有の課題を取り上げた自殺選択コースの詳細なアウトラインを提示する。コース終了後、学生（N＝49）は、自殺傾向のクライエントと関わる心構えができ、正確なアセスメントを行い、適切な介入方法を提案できるようになったと報告した。This teaching note argues the need for enhanced suicide assessment and intervention training for MSW students preparing for rural social work practice. A detailed outline of a suicide elective course is presented, addressing rural specific challenges. After course completion, students (N = 49) reported feeling better prepared to work with suicidal clients and better able to conduct an accurate assessment and suggest appropriate interventions.
