General purpose technologies (GPTS) and the internationalization of corporate innovations - A cross-country analysis

Abstract

Our study suggests that the specialization of GPTs promotes the internationalization of innovations, especially those in the GPT-based industries. Moreover, in the countries in which local industries largely develop GPTs, the innovative activities tend to be taken by firms from a wider range of countries and industries.
