Abstract

A deep Catholic imprint marked the way the countries that were part of the Spanish Empire –or better to say, the Monarchy of Spain– and determined how its leaders and inhabitants have imagined, experienced and organized the nations that replaced it since the crisis of 1808. This dossier collects the work of a group of renowned specialists, who explore different dimensions of the link between religious and national experiences, their definitions and the tensions they have generated in the last two hundred years.
