Abstract

A corrosion, wear and synergism behaviors between them of the high-entropy alloys (HEAs) FeCrNiCo(I-0), FeCrNiCoAl(I-Al) and FeCrNiCoMo (I-Mo) in artificial seawater were studied quantitatively. The I-Al has small coefficient of friction and large wear rate because the Al dissolve preferentially. The wear rate of I-Mo is the smallest for the wear debris containing molybdate fills in the corrosion pits where the FCC phase is corroded firstly. The wear is main cause of the tribocorrosion compared with the corrosion. The corrosion rate increases due to the wear is 100 times larger than the wear rate increases due to the corrosion.
