Abstract

Hemorrhoids are the most frequent pathology of the benign anus-rectum diseases that are treated by gastroenterologists and surgeons with special training in proctology, which is a branch of medicine specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of anus and rectum diseases, its name derives from greek: haema (blood) and rhoos (flow). Within all man diseases can suffer, the hemorrhoid plays undoubtedly an important role in human life as the annoying symptoms that may causes - limiting the social and cultural performance of man in society - as the decisive influence of this disease has had in mankind history since hemorrhoids have affected at different ages to Kings, leaders and powerful thinkers from most powerful Nations; whose decided the future of their Nations and of the whole world in one way or in another because of its painful symptoms or complications. At the same time the diagnosis and treatment necessarily involved a development of traditional medicine which was unscientific and perhaps painful in the beginning to become in a modern medicine nurtured of current knowledge and technological advances often unpainful as is usual today. This is because we believe that knowledge of the history of hemorrhoids is imperative for doctors, nurses, historians, students and ordinary people.
