Física e música em consonância

Abstract

Physical and mathematical conditions of consonance of sound waves are examined and a relation between its fundamental frequencies is established. It is shown that it is independent from the relative phases and amplitudes as well as the validity for all the harmonic frequencies. At last, it is discussed how this consonance relation manifests itself in musical scales. Copyright by the Sociedade Brasileira de Física. Printed in Brazil.
