Abstract

Site 527 is the deepest site in the transect of sites down the W slope of the NNW-SSE trending block in the Walvis Ridge. The petrology of the basement and sediments is briefly described together with estimates of palaeodepths and accumulation rates. The oldest sediment is M.Maestrichian; there is a hiatus from mid Miocene to lower Oligocene.-M.J.Bennell-Baker
