Abstract
It might be claimed that a garden, as a naturally dynamic object, cannot maintain identity even with itself for any length of time. But this may be an extreme position, and it may be that we believe not only that the garden this year is the same as the garden last year, but two gardens—even in different locations—can be the same. In this paper, I examine the relevant factors for addressing identity conditions in gardens and offer a short range of positions from the conservative to the moderate on what may constitute garden identity. Ultimately, I adopt the most liberal of the conservative positions.
