Abstract

The distributed, apparently random pattern of odorant receptor expression is thought to reflecta stochastic choice process. In this issue of Developmental Cell, Song etal. (2012) suggest that the Drosophila pattern is established secondarily from regionally specified cell populations through changes in transcription factor expression and cell migration. © 2012 Elsevier Inc.
