Abstract

New habits, resulting from the socio-cultural changes that occurred over the last decades, demand the creation of flexible, customized, and adaptable spaces for housing. This article reports on the parametric design process for collective housing in downtown São Paulo, based on the principles and guidelines established for central areas. Digital technologies, such as parametric modeling (PM) and digital fabrication, were used to generate and materialize a project, exploring the combination of design parameters. The original contribution here is the design strategies to create new social housing typologies, through algorithms inserted into deteriorated urban areas.
