Digital transformation in public administration: From e-government to digital government

Abstract

The digital revolution impacts public administration and gradually transforms the activities provided by the State. It comes unattended by challenges and new needs that arise as these technologies improve. The article proposes to go through the path of insertion of ICTs in the state organizational sphere, examining from the initial conception of e-Government to the most recent work that advocates digital government. The work is descriptive and logical deductive. First, it examines the foundations of e-Government, with their classifications and identifications, types of interaction. Second, the ideas and proposals of open government are worked on. Third, the concept of digital government is explored, and its key issues. Finally, comparative traces of the evolutionary process of digital transformation in public administration are drawn.
