Abstract

A motorised, mechanical sieve designed to extract laboratory reared dung beetle adults and broods from soil is described. The sieve, overall dimensions 1600 times 590 times 870 mm, has a readily interchangeable mesh. Throughput was about 8–10 times quicker with the mechanical sieve than with a hand‐held sieve.
