Abstract

The sesquiterpene lactone constituents are examd. in diploid, tetraploid, and hexaploid forms of A. dumosa collected during the flowering season, by using thin-layer and column chromatog. Isolated lactones are (compd., m.p., and percent of dried wt. given): parthenolide, 113-14°, diploid 0.023, tetraploid 0.020; coronopilin, 180-1°, diploid 2.600; psilostachyin A, 120-2°, diploid 0.039, hexaploid -; ambrosiol, 217°, diploid 0.506; burrodin, 167-8°, tetraploid 0.305, hexaploid -; psilostachyin C, 226.5-8.5°, tetraploid 0.006; apoludin, 134-5°, tetraploid 0.190, hexaploid -. Biogenetic patterns are discussed. [on SciFinder(R)]
