Abstract
This study was based on the results of preliminary observations which informed that there was an increase in patient safety incidents in 2022 compared to 2021. The purpose of this study was to empirically reveal the effect of clinical competence and systematic thinking on patient safety culture with attitude as an intervening variable. This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional study design. The population used was nurses who served in the inpatient installation. The sampling technique used total sampling which made all 64 inpatient installation nurses as respondents. The data collection technique used a questionnaire, and the analysis method used three box method analysis and PLS-SEM with the help of the Smart-PLS program. The results of the analysis prove that clinical competence and systematic thinking have a significant effect on patient safety culture with attitude as an intervening variable, so that with a professional attitude of nurses, clinical competence and systematic thinking can further influence patient safety culture. Clinical competence and systematic thinking have a positive and significant effect on attitudes and patient safety culture, and attitudes have a positive and significant effect on patient safety culture, and are able to intervene in the influence of clinical competence and systematic thinking on patient safety culture. Systematic thinking is the dominant variable that can improve attitudes and patient safety culture, while clinical competence is the lowest in improving attitudes and patient safety culture.
