Abstract

Comparison of intermittent and permanent streams has been made to determine their affinities. Stability of physical and chemical factors was observed in the permanent streams and in the lotie period of intermittent streams. The stagnant period of intermittent streams is unstable. The biotic comparisons have shown the affinities between permanent lentic streams and intermittent streams. Permanent lotie streams and intermittent streams show very little similarities. Some specific populations can maintain themselves during the dry period only when the phreatic sheet is present in depth. © 1973 Masson.
