Abstract

Development research was conducted to create a science comic product about how the body reacts to light. The comic aims to address common misconceptions that students have about the subject of light. The science comic teaching materials about light were designed to cater to the needs of fifth-grade students in elementary schools. The development research method used was ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), with 43 class V UPT students at SD Negeri 18 Gresik participating. The analysis involved needs analysis, material analysis, and analysis of learning implementation. The designs were produced using Photoshop CC & Corel Draw X7 software, and the development stage involved turning the designs into a comic product. Validation was conducted by validating appearance, material, and language, with each validation involving two validators. Implementation was carried out using the PBL learning model, and the results were 100% in the very effective category. Evaluation was also conducted by providing student response questionnaires, and the results were 90.7% in the very good category. The research produced a valid science comic with a score of 87.74% in the very valid and 100% effective category. So it is recommended that further research can develop more open science comic materials for elementary school students on various interesting topics and by the curriculum to increase students' interest in learning about natural science.
