Abstract

This paper discusses the software development effort for an Air Force command and control system. The software system is a combination of custom Ada application code and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) IBM software. The Request for Proposal (RFP) and contract award for this project both took place prior to the existence of the vast array of validated Ada compilers available today, and this fact resulted in some interesting Ada issues, which will be discussed towards the end of this paper.
