Abstract

Image rendering and display parameters of autostereoscopic 3-D displays differ from that of ordinary 2-D displays. Therefore, a separate methodology for verification of the optical characteristics is required. The industry is currently lacking standardized measurement methods for 3-D displays, thus the reported results from the measurements may not always be comparable. Standardized methodology is needed, and the metrology and the metrics have to be defined without bias with regards to any particular stereo technology. This article explores several ways of characterizing autostereoscopic displays. © sid 2009.
