Abstract

Phenolic resin composition depends on monomer ratio, catalyst, reaction conditions, and residual free monomers. Using a simple device for parallel synthesis, large numbers of samples of different compositions were prepared. Residual free phenol and formaldehyde were determined by fast HPLC. Using this approach, combinatorial libraries for a huge variety of different experimental conditions can be developed. These libraries bear information on the effect of different experimental parameters on resin composition.
