Abstract

Two new fibrinolytic saponins, lucyosides N and P, were isolated from the seeds of Luffa cylindrica roem. (Cucurbitaceae). On the basis of chemical and spectral evidence, lucyoside N was characterized as 3-0-/?-d-galactopyranosyl-(l->2)-/J-D-glucuronopyranosyl-28-0-/f-D-xylopyranosyl~(l->4)-[/J-D-glucopyranosyl-(l“+3)]-a-L- rhamnopyranosyl-(l-+2)-a-arabinopyranosyl quillaic acid. Lucyoside P was characterized as a gypsogenin glycoside with the same sugar moiety as lucyoside N. © 1991, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan. All rights reserved.
