Modelling and scheduling of flexible manufacturing system

Abstract

Production scheduling of an FMS is formulated as a multi-level integer program. The structure proposed includes machine loading, part input sequence and operation scheduling. Flexible manufacturing system is the better option to meet the effective utilization of resources, for which scheduling is the only solution. A simple numerical problem approach is proposed, and some computational results of simulation are analyzed and an attempt is made in arriving general conclusions.
