Abstract

Individual genome DNA was extracted fast from oral swab and followed up with PCR specific for codon 248 of p53 tumor suppressor gene. MspI restriction mapping showed the G-C mutation in codon 248, which closely relates to cancer susceptibility. Students learn the concepts, detection techniques, and research significance of point mutations or single nucleotide polymorphisms in individual genomes. © 2009 by The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
