The objective of this paper was to evaluate the processing types and storage time of silage of superior third of cassava plant (SSTCF), through chemical composition, fractions of nitrogen and carbohydrates compositions and in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD). The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design. The treatments were defined in a 2x4 factorial array with two processing types (whole and shredded SSTCF) and four storage times (20, 40, 60 and 120 days). Shredded SSTCF had the lowest values of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) and IVDMD, and the highest value of non-structural-carbohydrate. In storage time analyses, lineal behaviors were observed for CP, DIVMS and fraction C of CHT, quadratic for the organic, and cubic for A+B1 and B2 of CHT. Both whole or shredded SSTCF can be used and after 20 days of storage time, fermentation was already stabilized and the silos were ready to be opened.
