This paper examines whether doing extracurricular sports increases sportspersonship based on three samples of primary and lower secondary education (aged 10 to 15) students in a neighbourhood of the city of Barcelona. The first two samples did extracurricular sports. The third sample, which was a control group, only did curricular sport. The sportspersonship assessment tool was the Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientation Scale (MSOS-20). Our findings indicate that extracurricular sports generate multiple values linked to sportspersonship (effort, etc.) to a greater extent than curricular sport. However, the competitive spirit of extracurricular sports decreases in sportspersonship values such as impartiality.
