Abstract

Conventional grids are unable to deliver the escalating demand for electricity in this era of ever-increasing demand. Considering the increased requirements motivates the evolution of green smart grid technology. The smart grid technology introduces the new information and control technologies (ICT) enable the optimized approach to plan advanced, automated and centralized controlled system for power distribution and transmission. This paper provides a comprehensive study on comparative assessment of green smart grid versus conventional grids through highlighting the various factors such as reduction of CO2 emission, self-healing and environment friendly, reliable operation, security provision, efficiency, cost management, energy empowerment, advance communication techniques, smart devices, smart controlling and monitoring, reduction in line losses and smart measurements. These factors will be used to propose an optimized solution based on green smart grid. The outcome of this research may be utilized to incorporate green technology in implementation of ICT infrastructure.
