Abstract

Chapter 8 of the book "Mental health: facing the challenges, building solutions" is presented. It explores the effects of work on mental health, where work is a source of personal satisfaction and accomplishment, interpersonal contacts and financial security. It cites that work can have negative effects on mental health and well-being when it is poorly organized. It notes that the causes of stress concern the way work is designed and the way in which organizations are managed.
