Abstract

GIS is one of the leading technologies owning functions of geo-spatial data acquisition, processing, management, analysis and visualization capabilities, and it has been seen as the third language of geography science. We analyse the role of GIS in Curriculum teaching of world Economic Geography which is shown as wall maps making, spatial inquiry, virtual reality and spatial analysis and statistics. We have also made a case study based on the Platform of MAPGIS. It's pointed out finally that GIS technology has an important support function in Curriculum teaching of world Economic Geography and has a broad application prospect. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH.
