Abstract

The circulation and rainfall distribution over India during August 1949 were studied with a view toward determination of the degree of steadiness of monsoonal weather conditions. Not less than five different patterns of flow, each with a characteristic distribution of precipitation, were found to prevail in turn during this month alone.
