Abstract

Lysosomal enzyme release form rabbit peritoneal neutrophils induced by a bacterial chemotactic factor is temperature dependent; it requires external Ca2+ but not Mg2+ glycolysis as a source of metabolic energy and free sulfhydryl groups. The release is inhibitable by DFP under circumstances suggesting involvement of an activatable serine esterase. The release is enhanced by cytochalasin B. Low concentrations of colchicine and vinblastine enhance lysosomal enzyme release, as well as chemotaxis induced by the same chemotactic factor; higher concentrations inhibit.
