PERAN PKSM DALAM MENINGKATKAN FUNGSI KELOMPOK TANI DAN PARTISIPASI MASYARAKAT DI KABUPATEN BIMA, NTB

Abstract

orests as capital development needs to be protected and utilized as much as possible for the benefit and welfare of the community.In fact more and more damaged forests, forest communities conditions are still in poverty. Limited access, knowledge, and skills aboutforestry is a barrier that inhibits people to care for and preserve the forests, because it needs to be given guidance and increased knowledge onthe benefits and functions of the existence and sustainability through the provision of intensive counseling and continuously. The researchused survey method, conducted in 5 sub districts (Ambalawi, Belo, Wawo, Wera, Woha) in Bima district, West Nusa Tenggara, andsamples were taken based on proportional random sampling. The analysis used was descriptive and inferential statistics. Frequencydistribution was used to determine the characteristics of individual farmers, PKSM mentoring role, the role and functions of the group andthe level of community participation. Relationships between variables were analyzed using Rank Spearman correlation analysis withsoftware of SPSS 20.0. Forestry extension activities carried out by the extension of Civil Servants (PNS), private conselors andExtension Forestry (PKSM). PKSM have an important and strategic role in supporting the successful development of forestry and is apartner in the field as well as the extension of civil servants has served as analyzers, stimulator, facilitator and encoureger for people to carryout various activities in the field of forestry. The approach taken by PKSM in conducting counseling and coaching approach is to groupmember farmers. The approach through this group is one that is considered the most effective approach to accelerate the delivery ofinformation related to the activities of the forestry sector to the public. The results of this study indicate that the role of PKSM have asignificant relationship with the improvement of individual quality of community and functions of farmer groups.
