Abstract

Affirmative actions are a set of public policies and interdependent and complementary practices relating to experiences and socio political and cultural experiences of socio educational actors nowadays. The research aimed to analyze the access system and indigenous staying in Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, which was implemented by State Law 2,894/2004. The methodology was qualitative, the document type and field research with students of the Escola Normal Superior. It is understood that when addressing the affirmative action and the democratization of higher education, it focuses directly, the problem of access and permanence of students from public schools, african descent and indians. And in that sense, the most visible effect of these policies, in addition to establishing diversity and representativeness themselves, is to eliminate the invisible barriers that hamper the advancement of blacks, indians, maroons… regardless of whether or not the official policy aimed at below them.
