Abstract

Tolerance and competition control the geographical distribution of species, leading to plant communities that compose the vegetation. The latter accurately indicates the nature of the environment, hence vegetation maps become basic tools in land-use planning etc. Knowledge of environmental conditions is needed for a sustained food supply for man without damaging the environment. -from Author
