Calculation of väisalä‐brunt frequencies and specific volume distributions of sea water

Abstract

An expression is derived for the Vaisala‐Brunt frequency in terms of the gradients of potential temperature and salinity. Modifications to facilitate calculations are suggested. A new method for expressing the specific volume distribution in terms of pressure, potential temperature, and salinity is also discussed. © 1973 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
