Increasing Demand for Specialized Psychological Services Mandates Increasing Specialization at the Doctoral Level of Training

Abstract

While ACT is not an uncommon treatment for mental health challenges associated with chronic, potentially life-threatening diseases such as breast cancer (Meltzer et al., 2022), not incorporating religious beliefs may diminish treatment efficacy. Mental health service delivery via integrated primary behavioral healthcare teams is increasingly common. With the pending establishment of a nationwide 988 crisis intervention phone number on July 16, 2022, it is likely that providers in all treatment settings will experience an increase in referrals for evaluation of suicide risk.
