Clear cell chondrosarcoma

Abstract

Three cases of clear cell chondrosarcoma are presented and documented. This variety of chondrosarcoma is characterised histologically by cells with clear cytoplasm (glycogen), with a hyperchromic central nucleus and a low grade of histological malignancy. These neoplasms have to be differentiated chiefly from osteoblastoma and chondroblastoma and require to be treated more radically. Simple curettage will not prevent recurrence. Five of the twenty-one cases reported in the literature gave delayed metastases.
