Abstract

The zoo has been considered a representation of “the relationship of human being to nature.” (Baratay & Hardouin-Fugier 2004, p. 10). It seems to be possible to argue that magnifying exotic animals “helped to create the illusion of power” (Spawforth 2010, p. 40). This characteristic is well known in the Baroque because magnificence from a foreign object and artificialization may represent a mirror reflection of an imperialist market. This kind of power is characteristic of the culture of Escobar’s apparatus, which defended the free market. Therefore, this kind of power was represented in a famous zoo, which was eventually called the “Hacienda Napoles”. This zoo fantastically materialised the power and monetary returns of the drug trafficking business. Moreover, this research considers historical, architectural, biological, technological, political, economic and anthropological perspectives and complex relations between popular culture, urbanism, transport and technology. Multilinear evolution used the methodology, essentially, it studies the significant alteration of a particular culture so that a cultural law can be identified (Sterward 1972, p. 21).
