Abstract

The article presents a theory of education which creates a "new professional" who is not only skilled in the physical needs of his or her profession, but also the emotional and sympathetic mentality needed to maintain their purpose. The medical profession is highlighted, but other careers are also included. The author suggests education must validate the importance of emotion, remove ideas of autonomy, foster community, and more.
