Abstract

We have identified a new promoter within the tRNA gene cluster of Saccharomyces cerevisiae mitochondrial DNA. It is located upstream of the gene encoding the leucyl tRNA. It conforms to the consensus sequence of other yeast mitochondrial promoters, ATATAAGTA. It serves as a site for the initiation of transcription in vivo and in vitro. © 1987 IRL Press Limited.
